It Lives!

It has been quite a minute since I last posted something here. As you may have noticed, things look a bit different around here. I had a nasty bout with some stray virus and found myself with little else to do, so I decided that the old website could use a bit of sprucing up. I hope you enjoy what I’ve done with the place. If nothing else, it looks a little less…stock.

What’s the latest news? Well, in the last blog post, I made my intention clear to relaunch the first book. That is still underway, and I’ll be meeting again with the good folks at Twin Tales Publishing this Thursday to discuss further plans. I’ve also been fortunate enough to get connected with a cover designer. I think we had some good discussions on the important elements and I can’t wait to see what she has in mind.

As for the writing bits, I’ve made a couple small edits to the Book 1 text so that continuity lines up in Book 2, but nothing I’d consider major. I’m still holding strong at about 16k words on the WIP, but I had some major story breakthroughs regarding the “big bad” of the story. A new character even came to light from a random note I left for myself in a character sheet. A lot of it even connects to this new website design. Much as curry was a running theme through the first book, book the second will have a lot of coffee in it.

There’s no definitive timeline on anything regarding relaunches or the delivery date of Book 2. Obviously, I’d like to make a lot of progress on both early this year, but I’m hesitant to pin myself down to any exact dates. If you’ve read my other blog posts, I rushed this once already and I don’t want to repeat the feat.

One last thought: I finally did something fun and somewhat self-indulgent. I booked myself a 3-night writer’s retreat in one of my favorite places, Asheville, NC. I love my family dearly, and I have no problem writing at home, but I thought I’d give myself an opportunity to do nothing but write for a couple days and see what shakes out. It may well be nothing, but it seemed worth trying. I’ll report back on this blog once I’ve returned.
