Instagram is a GO!

Today, thanks to my social media manager (also known as my lovely wife), I have broken my boycott of all social media and created an Instagram account. You can find me @scottalexanderclark there. So far, I haven’t posted anything, but I’m hoping to share some of the cover design ideas we’re working on. I’m sure my presence will eventually have to expand beyond just Instagram, but I’m still trying to get comfortable with the idea of being on Facebook again. We haven’t been on speaking terms for more than a year now and diving into that drama again hasn’t been high on my to-do list. This is a professional profile, though, and I can do it!

Speaking of the cover designs, I’m loving the early direction for HVE. We’re still playing with fonts, color blocks, and the positioning of the background image using the wonderful Canva tool. I’m THRILLED with the image we found for this; it really matches what I see in my mind when I think of the settings of the book. Liz has been having fun working with the designs and it makes me happy that we have this project to work on together. She really has that artist’s eye for design and I’m impossibly fortunate to have her doing it.

We’ve also started a design for SA: TBI with an absolutely adorable photograph of six-year-old Susie that I digitized from the family slides. It was the scanning and importing of slides that really led to the beginnings of the book and I knew from the second I scanned this one that it was my cover shot! This one is still under heavy editing, so I probably won’t have much to share for a bit.

Also, it feels only right to wish Susie, my mom and the star of Susie’s Adventures, a happy birthday today! She got my worst possible rendition of Happy Birthday this morning and adored it. Happy Birthday, Mom!
