No Turning Back

It’s official. I bought my ISBNs today, so this is really happening. I’m on Chapter 17/20 of my final read-through, and then it’s time to export and start the publishing process. Liz finished her read of one of my last drafts and she agrees that it’s ready, so Her Violet Empire is going to print in the new year. I’m thinking I’ll probably do mostly paperback and eBook, but I may print a few hardcovers for myself and family. Now, I just have to do all of the other book stuff, like blurbs, bios, jackets, etc. We have the front cover sorted, but the back, spine, etc. still need work. I think IngramSpark helps with some of that, but I was never able to find out until I had ISBNs.

As a gift to myself for the achievement, I’m buying myself a new laptop just to use for writing. Much like the main character of HVE, I’m a techie nerd who loves toys. I love that new electronic smell when you first open the box. I’m old enough to remember the joy of the cow print boxes of Gateway 2000; when one of those showed up, you were happy. I say all of that to illustrate why it’s a big deal for me to have bought this particular laptop. I’m highly unaccustomed to buying anything but top of the line when I do it. But this lappy has but one purpose. I won’t be doing bills or playing solitaire or running Docker Desktop on it. This unit will be driving everything to do with scottalexanderclark.com. It’s my writer’s laptop and I’m thrilled about it.

Anyway, Happy New Year, everyone. Thanks for coming on this journey with me and I’m really excited about the prospects for 2022!
